US President Donald Trump dismissed calls to slow down AI development, saying 'negative forces' should not be raising such concerns. Speaking in Ireland, he emphasized that the US is leading China in AI and wants to keep it that way.

'We're leading China in AI; we're the most sophisticated country in the world. And frankly, I want to keep it that way because whoever wins AI, wins,' Trump said.

His comments come amid discussions among top AI developers about slowing down technological progress and addressing safety concerns as AI systems become more capable.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have expressed concerns about the need for industry-wide coordination to mitigate risks. They suggest that major laboratory heads could establish a collaborative framework focused on risk mitigation, but no formal plans have been announced.
