Trump Dividend Proposal Could Pump $5,000 into Americans' Wallets
US President Donald Trump has proposed a $5,000 dividend for every adult American citizen if Republicans secure control of both the House and Senate in the upcoming midterm elections. Speaking at the Republican National Committee midterm convention in Dallas on Wednesday, Trump said the payment would reward Americans for the country's economic performance.
The proposal, which could create a major liquidity catalyst for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP, has been met with interest from crypto investors. A stimulus-style injection of more than $1 trillion into the US economy could increase consumer spending, market liquidity, and demand for risk assets. Bitcoin posted significant gains during the pandemic-era stimulus period in 2020 and 2021.
However, it's essential to note that the administration has not provided a complete funding plan for the program, which could cost roughly $1.2 trillion. Congressional authorization is also required, making the proposal dependent on both the election outcome and subsequent legislation. Any Trump dividend would be required to be spent within the US.
Ethereum may attract capital as traders rotate into highly liquid large-cap cryptocurrencies during a broader market recovery. XRP has already gained more than 50% over the past month, with growing institutional exposure through exchange-traded funds contributing to bullish sentiment.
