Trump Endorses Revised Clarity Act Amid Crypto Regulation Push
After months of negotiation, Senate Republicans have reached an agreement on a key provision in the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at regulating cryptocurrencies and digital assets. The deal, which President Trump has endorsed with some reservations, addresses concerns about conflict-of-interest tied to his family's involvement in the crypto industry.
The updated text bars public officials from issuing or sponsoring digital assets and allows state attorneys general as well as the Department of Justice to enforce this provision. This was a central demand from Democrats, whose votes are needed to move the bill forward on the Senate floor.
Senator Cynthia Lummis, who has led the effort, praised the agreement and urged colleagues to support the revised bill. She noted that rejecting it would mean opposing real ethics reforms and leaving Americans with zero protections in the digital asset markets.
