Trump Envoys Plan Dual Visits to Kyiv and Moscow Amid Ongoing Conflict

Two of President Trump's top foreign policy envoys are set to visit Kyiv and Moscow in the coming days. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have made multiple trips to Moscow since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, but this trip to Kyiv would be a significant development.

The planned visits follow a meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on July 28. According to Ukrainian sources, the discussions focused on revitalizing diplomatic efforts amid stalled peace negotiations.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has confirmed the envoys' expected arrival in Kyiv, which could coincide with Ukraine's Independence Day on August 24. Former US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker notes that this trip could provide valuable insights into Ukraine's situation on the ground.

Witkoff has made at least eight trips to Moscow since the full-scale invasion began, meeting with President Vladimir Putin and discussing topics such as ceasefire frameworks and sanctions-related issues. A subsequent trip to Moscow is anticipated after the Kyiv visit.
