Trump Family Crypto Empire Sparks Congressional Concern
Colorado's senators must act to stop what's being called a 'crypto scam' in Washington, D.C. According to State Senator Katie Wallace, politicians are using their offices for personal gain and to get rich quick. The CLARITY Act, a cryptocurrency bill advancing through the U.S. Senate, is a top priority of Donald Trump and his administration. However, Wallace claims it's an 'executive branch cash-grab disguised as market regulation' designed to benefit Trump's private business ventures.
Wallace points out that Trump used to call crypto a scam but now actively exploits the presidency to expand his family's massive crypto empire. Federal financial disclosures revealed that Trump banked over $1.4 billion in crypto income in a single year, including $635 million from his self-branded meme coin.
The apparent corruption reached new levels when executive branch banking regulators at the OCC granted conditional approval for a national trust bank charter to World Liberty Financial, the crypto firm controlled by the Trump family. The CLARITY Act doesn't stop this corrupt gravy train, it paves the way for it, cementing loopholes around Trump's existing arrangements.
Wallace urges Colorado's U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet to resist this shameless grift and vote 'no' on the CLARITY Act, which she believes is an unprecedented abuse of executive authority.
