Trump Family Crypto Projects Bleed US$ 4.7 Billion in Investor Losses
A report by Public Citizen has revealed that investors in crypto projects launched by the Trump family have accumulated losses of more than US$ 4.7 billion.
The biggest impact came from the TRUMP token, which accounted for US$ 3.2 billion of the total loss. The document describes the TRUMP token as a memecoin and notes that it was launched three days before Donald Trump's second presidential term began.
In two days, the asset climbed above US$ 73, but later pulled back and is now below US$ 2.
The report also includes losses in other products linked to the Trump family ecosystem, such as the governance token of World Liberty Financial and NFT collectible cards launched in 2022. The data indicate that a small group of early investors concentrated 80% of the gains, while 65% ended up at a loss.
Donald Trump did not lose money in the scheme, according to the report, as he made no investment or outlay from his wallet, valued at US$ 271 million. He reportedly earned revenue from licensing fees for the TRUMP token, NFT cards, and sales linked to World Liberty.
