Trump Family Crypto Schemes Leave Investors with $4.7B in Losses
Investors in crypto schemes launched by the Trump family have lost over $4.7 billion, according to a report from Public Citizen.
The majority of these losses came from the Official Trump (TRUMP) meme coin, which was launched on the third day before President Trump's second presidential tenure began.
After reaching a trading price above $73 in just two days, the token plummeted and is now valued below $2. Public Citizen reported that 1% of wallets held 80% of gains, while 65% of investors are still underwater with losses totaling over $3.2 billion.
The report also highlighted the World Liberty Financial governance token, which peaked at $0.33 in September 2025 and is now trading below $0.06, resulting in total losses of at least another $1 billion. In contrast, buyers who purchased the token early on saw gains of up to 283%.
Additionally, the report noted that Trump's 2022 NFT trading cards decreased in value from $12.3 million to $3 million, leaving holders with nearly $9.3 million in losses. However, Trump himself earned $7.2 million in licensing fees and royalties on these trading cards.
