Trump Family Crypto Venture Clears Hurdle for Stablecoin Expansion
A major hurdle has been cleared for the cryptocurrency venture World Liberty Financial (WLF), which involves Donald Trump's family, as U.S. banking regulators conditionally approved its national trust bank charter application.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted conditional preliminary approval to WLF's application in a letter published on August 14, clearing the way for the expansion of its stablecoin business.
World Liberty Financial was co-founded by Trump and his three sons in the second half of 2024, with the Witkoff family involved in management. The company would be able to offer asset management and custody services through the trust bank if it secures a formal license.
