Trump Family Cryptocurrency Deals Spark Controversy

Share

A Reuters/Ipsos poll has found that most Americans believe President Donald Trump and his family inappropriately profited from cryptocurrency since his return to power. The poll, completed on Monday, showed that 63% of respondents believed it was inappropriate for the president and his family to profit in this way.

The poll also found that half of Trump's own Republicans believe the president allows considerations for his business interests to influence his decisions. This is a striking finding, given Trump's pledge to clean up corruption in Washington.

Trump has earned over $1.4 billion last year from his family's cryptocurrency ventures, including World Liberty Financial and the Trump meme coin. He has publicly championed these assets and has pursued crypto-friendly policies in his second term.

The White House dismissed allegations of impropriety, saying Trump's investments were managed by independent financial institutions.
