Trump Halts Iran Strike Plans Demanding Strait Reopening and Nuclear Cuts
US President Donald Trump has put on hold planned military strikes against Iran, but only if Tehran agrees to make concessions. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he would cancel the strike if Iran 'rapidly makes a DEAL'.
The conditions for this deal are significant: Trump wants the Strait of Hormuz fully reopened and an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions. The Strait is a critical oil shipping route, through which about one-fifth of the world's daily oil passes.
This announcement comes as US authorities have been actively freezing hundreds of millions in Iranian-linked digital assets. In June 2026, the US Treasury sanctioned Nobitex, Iran's largest digital asset exchange, for helping Iran evade sanctions. Approximately $344 million in digital assets linked to Iran has been frozen as a result.
The dual approach of diplomacy and enforcement suggests that Washington is treating crypto infrastructure as a legitimate front in its pressure campaign against Iran. This could have significant implications for crypto investors, with compliance costs rising and risk premiums adjusting accordingly.
