Trump Hints at Bringing Hyperliquid into US
Hype surrounding Hyperliquid's token, $HYPE, reached new heights after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is working on a way to bring the platform into the United States.
'I understand that [CFTC Chairman] Mike [Selig] is also working to bring hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal fashion, working very hard on that,' Trump said during a White House event with crypto and technology executives.
Hyperliquid's growth earlier this year put a spotlight on perpetual futures, which allow traders to bet on an asset's price without owning it. Unlike traditional futures, these contracts have no expiration date.
The CFTC has already cleared Coinbase Derivatives to offer perpetual-style bitcoin and ether futures in April 2025, with trading set to begin that July.
