Trump Hosts Crypto Executives Amid SEC Framework Advancements
President Donald Trump is set to host cryptocurrency executives at the White House on Wednesday as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prepares to advance its framework for digital assets.
The event, scheduled for the afternoon, will feature remarks from Trump with technology leaders in attendance. Representatives from industry trade groups and crypto executives are also expected to attend, according to sources.
US Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Mike Selig, SEC Chair Paul Atkins, and crypto advisor Patrick Witt are among those scheduled to participate. The meeting comes as the SEC has proposed rules that would exempt certain token offerings from securities regulations, making it easier for crypto companies to issue tokens and raise capital.
The Republican president has pursued crypto-friendly policies since returning to office in January 2025, particularly through the SEC and CFTC. However, sweeping crypto legislation has stalled in Congress, with little time remaining for lawmakers to approve the bill before the end of the year.
