Trump Hosts Crypto Leaders Ahead of Innovation Advisory Committee Meeting
US President Donald Trump hosted finance and crypto leaders at the White House on August 19 for an inauguration ceremony. The event took place ahead of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Innovation Advisory Committee first meeting scheduled for August 20.
The committee aims to reduce regulatory obstacles and bureaucratic red tape, according to Trump. He claimed that his administration had taken steps to support new financial technologies by removing restrictions such as Operation Chokepoint 2.0, which targeted crypto and digital assets.
Trump also mentioned the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve through an executive order and another banning federal agencies from creating a central bank digital currency. Additionally, he signed the GENIUS Act in July 2025, setting guidelines for dollar-backed stablecoins.
Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig welcomed the collaboration with industry leaders and guided future policy discussions. He noted that innovators are now welcome at the White House, not treated as criminals.
