Trump: I'm 'For' Crypto, But Personal Preferences Don't Enter Presidential Decisions

US President Trump has expressed his support for cryptocurrencies, but emphasized that it's not a personal preference.

'I'm very much for crypto,' he told reporters at a White House event in July. However, when asked whether Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies could be included in the new investment program, Trump said his children handle their investments and he avoids discussing them.

The program, called Trump Accounts, provides a one-time $1,000 federal contribution into an account invested in a broadly diversified US stock index fund for eligible children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Families, relatives, and employers can also make additional contributions over time.

'I don't talk to them ever about it,' Trump said of his children's investments. 'This office is a much higher calling.' He pointed out that wealthy presidents have served before, citing John F. Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, and George Washington as examples.
