Trump-Linked Crypto Projects Wipe Out $4.7 Billion for Investors
Investors in cryptocurrency projects associated with former US President Donald Trump have faced significant losses. According to Finway, the total loss amounts to at least $4.7 billion, including both realized and unrealized losses.
The biggest losers are investors who put money into the meme coin TRUMP and the governance token WLFI. TRUMP's price peaked at $73.43 on January 19, 2025, but then sharply fell, leaving most investors at a loss. Meanwhile, top 1% of wallets made about $2.7 billion in profit.
WLFI's market price dropped from a peak of $0.3313 to $0.05744, with the total loss for investors estimated at over $1 billion. AI Financial Corporation purchased 7.28 billion WLFI for $1.46 billion but saw its value shrink to $421 million by summer 2026.
Trump Media & Technology Group's digital treasury raised $2.44 billion in investments, but the company lost about $450 million on bitcoins and saw a decrease in market capitalization from $5.7 billion to $2.6 billion. Trump himself earned at least $1.4 billion amid these losses.
