Trump Media Abandons $6.4B Cronos Treasury Deal
Trump Media Group has scrapped its planned $6.42 billion treasury venture built around Cronos (CRO) with Crypto.com, citing market conditions and shifting corporate priorities.
The joint statement from Trump Media, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition Corp. announced the termination of the proposed Trump Media Group CRO Strategy on Friday. This move affects a publicly traded Cronos treasury company that would have licensed the Trump Media name to accumulate CRO and stake those holdings for extra yield.
Interim chief executive Kevin McGurn stated that the digital asset treasury sector had grown crowded as more public companies copied the same balance sheet playbook, leading to the decision to scrap the venture. The two firms also dropped a services agreement and a plan to bring prediction market contracts to Truth Social.
