Trump Media Abandons CRO Treasury Venture Amid Market Shifts
Trump Media has abandoned its plans to create a CRO treasury venture with Crypto.com and Yorkville Acquisition, citing shifting market conditions and business priorities. The move also brings an end to a separate ETF servicing plan between the companies.
The planned CRO Strategy was set to be a publicly traded vehicle focused on accumulating Cronos' native token, CRO. Under the original structure, Crypto.com would have supplied $1 billion in CRO and provided access to a $5 billion credit facility. The broader plan targeted around $6.4 billion in CRO purchases.
Trump Media had already purchased $105 million worth of CRO in September 2025 as part of its relationship with Crypto.com, which included proposed token rewards across Trump Media products.
The decision to pull back on the crypto strategy follows a period where Trump-linked entities expanded their crypto activity after the 2024 presidential election. The moves included ETF plans and Bitcoin holdings, but now focus is shifting towards media, data licensing, and its technology business.
