Trump Media Abandons Cronos Token Accumulation Plans Amid Market Shift
Trump Media has quietly exited part of the cryptocurrency space by scrapping its plan to establish a listed company dedicated to accumulating Cronos (CRO) tokens. The decision comes as Trump Media, Crypto.com, and special acquisition company Yorkville Acquisition terminated their joint CRO strategy plan due to 'current market conditions and shifting priorities among stakeholders.'
The plan, announced in 2025, aimed to create a publicly traded company that would accumulate Cronos native tokens through staking, generating additional revenue. Trump Media acquired $1.05 billion worth of CRO tokens in September 2025 as part of its broader collaboration with Crypto.com.
As news broke, the price of CRO plummeted by 5%. Additionally, the two companies have also terminated another cooperation that would see Crypto.com provide services for Yorkville America's exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
