Trump Media Axes CRO Treasury Plans Amid Market Conditions and Shifting Priorities
Trump Media and Technology Group has terminated plans to build a multibillion-dollar treasury company centered on Crypto.com's CRO token, citing prevailing market conditions and shifting business priorities. The decision reflects a deliberate narrowing of focus rather than a single failed negotiation.
The two companies also abandoned a separate arrangement to integrate Crypto.com-powered prediction markets directly into Truth Social, opting instead for a lighter-touch marketing partnership.
The terminated agreements include the CRO treasury venture, which aimed to accumulate more than 6.3 billion CRO tokens and generate additional returns through staking, as well as an ETF servicing deal with Yorkville America's planned exchange-traded fund lineup.
Crypto.com's CRO token price has reacted sharply to the news, dropping by over 5% in the past 24 hours with a market cap of near $2.36 billion and trading volume spiking to roughly $10.8 billion.
