Trump Media Dumps Crypto.com Partnership, Shifts Focus to Fusion Energy
Trump Media and Technology Group has abandoned its high-profile agreements with Crypto.com, including a CRO token treasury initiative and prediction market integration on Truth Social. The decision was attributed to 'prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities' by the parties involved.
The Trump Media Group CRO Strategy project aimed to establish a publicly listed entity dedicated to accumulating and staking Crypto.com's CRO token, which had previously acquired $105 million in CRO tokens as part of the initial collaboration. However, market saturation led to the termination of the partnership, according to acting CEO Kevin McGurn.
The dissolution of the CRO treasury initiative coincides with stagnant progress on cryptocurrency regulation in Congress and President Trump's scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest arising from his family's cryptocurrency investments. The company is now prioritizing its media platforms, data licensing ventures, and finalizing its acquisition of TAE, a fusion energy technology firm.
