Trump Media Suffers $238 Million Loss as Crypto Values Plummet

Share

Trump Media & Technology Group has reported a significant increase in its second-quarter loss. The company, parent of President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform, posted a net loss of $238.1 million for the quarter ended June 30. This is a substantial jump from nearly $20 million in losses during the same period last year.

The majority of this latest loss came from declines in digital assets, equity securities, and other related holdings. Despite the steep loss, revenue rose 89% year-on-year to $1.7 million, primarily driven by advertising on Truth Social. The company's operating expenses also surged to more than $165 million, approximately 275% higher than a year earlier.

According to Chief Financial Officer Phillip Juhan, 'Our operating expenses are largely impacted by the price volatility of digital assets.' Trump Media has been expanding its services beyond social media, including its Truth API service for high-frequency trading firms. The company is also pursuing a proposed merger with nuclear-fusion firm TAE Technologies.
