Trump Media's Digital Bet Loses Big with $644 Million Quarterly Loss
Trump Media & Technology Group Corp., parent company of Truth Social and other Trump-branded media platforms, posted a net loss of $644 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2026. This significant loss is largely attributed to the decline in value of its digital assets, including Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The company's decision to invest heavily in these assets has not paid off as expected.
The company's financial report reveals a $1.02 billion decrease in total equity from December 31, 2025 to June 30, 2026. This decline is largely due to the write-down of digital assets valued at $597 million and $122 million respectively. The value of these digital assets has decreased significantly since their initial purchase.
The company's convertible note receivable and interest receivable have increased, indicating some positive cash flow. However, this increase is not enough to offset the losses incurred due to the decline in digital asset values.
