Trump Meets Advisers on Clarity Act Ahead of Crucial Senate Vote
President Donald Trump met with advisers on September 11 to discuss ethics provisions tied to the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The meeting came before the Senate's procedural vote on the crypto market structure bill, scheduled for September 15.
The CLARITY Act aims to create a federal framework for digital asset markets, dividing responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
A revised draft of the bill, released by Senator Cynthia Lummis on September 10, includes more than 100 changes requested by Democrats. The text requires non-decentralized trading protocols to register with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and narrows DeFi rules for spot and cash digital commodity transactions.
However, ethics rules and stablecoin rewards remain unresolved as senators prepare for the September 15 cloture vote.
