Trump Meets Crypto Leaders at White House Amid Regulatory Stalemate
US President Donald Trump hosted a meeting at the White House on August 19, 2026, to discuss regulatory frameworks for digital assets and artificial intelligence with cryptocurrency business leaders.
The summit was attended by top officials from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), including Chairman Paul Atkins and Chairman Michael Selig, respectively. Also present were Jeffrey Sprecher, Chairman of the NYSE and CEO of Intercontinental Exchange.
The meeting comes as the CLARITY Act remains stalled in the Senate. This landmark bill aims to define SEC and CFTC jurisdiction over digital assets.
