Trump Meets with Crypto and Finance CEOs to Push for Clarity Act Passage
US President Donald Trump has begun direct talks with top cryptocurrency and financial industry executives to advance passage of the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at establishing rules for crypto regulation. The Senate is scheduled to hold its first procedural vote on Sept. 15.
The Oval Office meeting brought together CEOs from leading companies such as Nasdaq, ICE, Robinhood, Kraken, Coinbase, and Ripple. Summer Mersinger, CEO of the Blockchain Association, noted that the presence of traditional financial infrastructure companies alongside emerging crypto exchanges was a sign of where the market is headed.
The Clarity Act would establish a federal regulatory framework for the US cryptocurrency market. However, disputes over the bill remain unresolved, with banks and crypto firms at odds over how stablecoin rewards should be treated.
Trump showed a 'very strong commitment' to passing the Clarity Act, according to one person interviewed by The Block. The group discussed key issues, including additional support and the legislative timetable after Congress returns from recess.
