Trump Predicts End of Iran War as Oil Prices Soar
US President Donald Trump has predicted that the Iran war may soon be over despite Tehran's refusal to meet for talks without conditions. Speaking in Dublin on Saturday, he said he expected the conflict to finish after the US midterm elections.
Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi countered that talks would continue to be futile as long as Washington refused Iran's demands. The Iranian stance has put the two sides on opposite sides as pressure in the region mounts. A Saudi pipeline attack, which Trump attributed to Iran without offering proof, has added pressure to oil markets.
The pipeline was pumping approximately four million to five million barrels per day, corresponding to about 4% to 5% of the world's oil supply. Brent crude closed above $104 on Friday with a gain of over 8%. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has held steady at around $77,240, up 0.53% despite earlier reaching $80,000.
