Trump Presses for Clarity Act Passage Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
US President Donald Trump renewed his push for passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, urging lawmakers to advance what he described as a 'fair version' of the bill. The proposal has been stuck in the Senate since its House approval in July 2025 due to disputes over tokenized products and incentives.
The CLARITY Act aims to provide clarity on regulatory frameworks for the crypto industry. Speaking at a press conference, Trump framed the effort as a competitiveness issue and linked it to broader US regulatory credibility. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized that the bill would provide long-lasting policy certainty for the industry.
However, concerns remain about potential conflicts of interest and ethics-related questions surrounding the Trump family's business interests in the crypto industry. Senator Ruben Gallego criticized the idea of presidentially driven 'limits,' arguing that regulatory thresholds must be set by Congress and the White House, not unilaterally by the president.
