Trump Pressures Congress on Crypto Rules Amidst Record-Breaking Bitcoin Rally
US President Trump met with digital-asset industry representatives in his White House to discuss market-structure policy, keeping the crypto market in focus. This comes as Bitcoin surged past $70,000 on August 20, its highest level since June 2. The Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act has passed the House but remains pending.
Crypto-linked US stocks also rose higher, and several platforms have been affected by market-structure rules. For instance, Coinbase's operating model is relevant to these regulations, while Robinhood offers crypto trading as part of its broader brokerage service.
The CME Group offers regulated crypto futures and options, which are distinct from the bill's spot-market framework. Meanwhile, several companies have exposure to Bitcoin-market conditions, such as Strategy (MSTR.US), which has corporate Bitcoin-treasury exposure.
Stablecoin issuer Circle was mentioned in the context of payment-stablecoin policy, but this has a distinct framework and should not be equated with the CLARITY Act's market-structure focus.
