Trump Pressures Congress to Pass Clarity Act, Eyes Bitcoin's Impact on US Dollar
US President Donald Trump pressed Congress to approve the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at establishing rules for the cryptocurrency market in the US. The legislation has reached a decisive stage in the Senate and requires 60 votes to pass.
In a meeting with industry executives, including representatives from Coinbase, Gemini, Ripple, and Chainlink Labs, Trump emphasized the importance of the Clarity Act for American competitiveness. 'It is very, very powerful structured legislation that will keep us ahead of China, ahead of everyone else,' he said.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, stated that the legislation could provide greater legal certainty for the cryptocurrency sector and maintain regulatory progress for many years. SEC Chair Paul Atkins also expressed support for passing the bill, linking it to the creation of more permanent rules for the market.
