Trump Seeks Crypto Bill After Family's $1 Billion Windfall
President Donald Trump is pushing for new cryptocurrency legislation after his family's crypto ventures reportedly generated over $1 billion in 2025. The push comes just weeks after Trump urged the Senate to advance the legislation, honoring the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.
On Wednesday, top executives from companies like Coinbase and Ripple joined Trump at a White House event to lobby for the legislation. During the meeting, Trump called on Congress to pass the Clarity Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for digital commodities and prevent cryptocurrency platforms from being used for money laundering.
The bill also includes provisions aimed at preventing senior federal officials from creating or sponsoring digital assets while in office. However, some Democrats have raised concerns that the attorney general could refuse to investigate the president and his allies even if they default on ethics rules.
