Trump Signals Potential Bitcoin Purchases Amid CLARITY Act Push
U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted that the government may consider purchasing a significant amount of Bitcoin, reigniting speculation about the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve established earlier in his presidency.
Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, Trump indicated that he would rely on senior regulators and executives from major crypto companies for recommendations on potential purchases.
'Well, it's been talked about. I think I'd probably rely on Paul and the whole group for that. He'll make a decision,' Trump said. 'If you came in with recommendations, two of you, if you came in with some recommendations, I would certainly listen.'
The White House emphasized the importance of regulatory clarity for digital assets, highlighting the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish a clearer framework for crypto businesses and define federal regulators' responsibilities.
