Trump Threatens Expanded Strikes on Iran's Nuclear Sites Amid Bitcoin Price Drop
US-Iran tensions have intensified after President Donald Trump hinted at expanding military strikes on Iran's nuclear sites. Specifically, he mentioned Pickaxe Mountain, a hardened underground facility near Natanz, as a possible target for a 'nice big fat shot.'
Pickaxe Mountain, also known as Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La, is located about 2 kilometers from the Natanz enrichment complex and roughly 220 kilometers south of Tehran. Construction began in fall 2020 after an incident damaged Iran's centrifuge assembly capacity.
The facility has since been equipped with thousands of uranium-enrichment centrifuges, according to Israeli intelligence estimates.
As a result, Bitcoin prices have dipped by over 2% amid the escalating tensions. This is not surprising, as US-Iran conflicts often trigger a decline in risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
