Trump Touts US Leadership in Crypto and AI Amid Regulatory Push
US President Donald Trump emphasized American leadership in cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence (AI) at a White House meeting with tech executives and financial regulators. The gathering, which took place on August 19, 2026, aimed to discuss regulatory frameworks for digital assets.
The meeting brought together representatives from major cryptocurrency companies, including Coinbase, Ripple, and Nasdaq, alongside SEC Chair Paul Atkins and Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Innovation Advisory Committee (CFTC) Chair Mike Selig. Trump praised the industry leaders for their efforts in ensuring the US remains at the forefront of AI and crypto innovation.
Trump noted that the US is 'leading by a lot' in AI and cryptocurrency, and he wants to keep it that way. He also criticized the Biden administration's approach to cryptocurrency, stating that it discouraged innovation under the 'Crooked Joe Biden Administration.'
The meeting came as the SEC proposed new rules that would provide exemptions for certain cryptocurrency token offerings. This development could make it easier for companies to issue tokens and raise money.
