Trump Touts US Leadership in Crypto and AI at White House Summit
U.S. President Donald Trump hosted a summit at the White House on August 19, 2026, to discuss regulatory frameworks for digital assets and artificial intelligence with technology executives and financial regulators.
The meeting was attended by representatives from major cryptocurrency companies, including Coinbase, Ripple, and Nasdaq, as well as SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee Chair Mike Selig.
Trump emphasized the U.S. leadership in AI and crypto, stating that 'we're leading in every aspect, including AI, and we're leading by a lot -- and we want to keep it that way.'
The meeting came as the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish clearer federal rules for cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, remains stalled in the Senate. A Senate vote on the bill is scheduled for September 15.
