Trump Trims Holdings in MSTR and COIN, Buys into Robinhood
U.S. President Donald Trump made several stock trades in June involving companies tied to the cryptocurrency and financial technology sectors, according to recent filings from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.
The transactions show a reduction in his holdings of Strategy (MSTR) and Coinbase (COIN), alongside a new purchase of Robinhood (HOOD) stock.
The President sold shares of MSTR on two separate occasions during June, with the combined value of these sales estimated between $16,002 and $65,000. This move comes amid significant volatility in the company's stock price, which has become highly correlated with Bitcoin's performance due to its substantial cryptocurrency treasury.
In a separate series of transactions, President Trump sold COIN shares three times, with the total value of these sales reported to be between $116,003 and $315,000. Notably, the filings also indicate a simultaneous purchase of additional COIN shares worth between $50,001 and $100,000.
The new position in Robinhood is significant as it adds a new dimension to his portfolio, placing him among the shareholders of a company that has aggressively expanded its cryptocurrency services. This development highlights the growing mainstream integration of digital assets in traditional finance.
