Trump Wins Bid to Keep Financial Info from BBC in Defamation Lawsuit

A US judge has allowed Donald Trump to amend his defamation lawsuit against the BBC, allowing him to exclude claims that the outlet hurt his businesses.

The ruling means Trump will likely avoid having to turn over vast amounts of financial information to the broadcaster in support of his case.

Trump initially alleged that the 2024 documentary by the BBC defamed both his personal reputation and his businesses, but he is now narrowing his complaint to only allege harm to his personal reputation.

The BBC had subpoenaed Trump's trust to turn over financial information in order to prove damages of $10 billion as claimed by Trump, including data on approximately 400 companies with ties to the president.
