Trump's Crypto Empire: A Presidential Payday Like No Other
Donald Trump's presidency has turned out to be his most lucrative financial endeavor ever, according to his recent mandatory financial disclosure. In 2025, he earned over $2.2 billion, with a majority of this amount coming from his crypto ventures, which generated $1.4 billion.
This is an unprecedented haul for any president in U.S. history. Even Barack Obama's peak net worth during his tenure was nowhere near Trump's one-year earnings. Obama made around $20 million between 2005 and 2017, with almost $16 million coming from book sales.
The majority of Trump's crypto earnings came from business opportunities he actively pursued as president. He launched a crypto coin just days before his second inauguration, which raised significant conflicts of interest due to wealthy individuals and foreign entities investing in it.
One such example is the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, who invested $500 million in World Liberty Financial, Trump's crypto business. Shortly after this investment, the Trump administration took 10 policy actions in favor of the UAE, including access to advanced U.S. AI chips.
