Trump's Crypto Empire Under Fire as Conflict of Interest Concerns Mount
US President Donald Trump's involvement in cryptocurrency businesses has raised concerns about conflicts of interest and public trust, according to comedian John Oliver.
In a recent episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver criticized Trump for his expanding crypto interests, calling him the 'first crypto president.'
Oliver noted that the crypto industry poured significant money into supporting Trump's political comeback, which led to the Trump family's crypto ventures becoming their largest business interest.
The comedian highlighted the case of Trump's official memecoin, which briefly reached a market value of $50 billion before falling 92% by December, resulting in an estimated $636 million payout for Trump while nearly a million people who bought into the coin lost money.
