Trump's Crypto Endorsement Sends Bitcoin Soaring
US President Donald Trump has intensified his support for cryptocurrencies, calling on Congress to pass a fair version of the Clarity Act. The proposal aims to clarify whether digital tokens should be classified as securities or commodities, which would determine their regulatory oversight. This distinction is crucial, as it affects how these assets are treated by market participants.
In response to Trump's backing, Bitcoin has rallied, rising 5% to $72,761 at market close. The price gain extends the cryptocurrency's cumulative gains to 15% over four consecutive trading sessions. The rally can be attributed in part to a proposed regulatory framework from the SEC, which seeks to simplify token issuance and capital raising for crypto firms.
The Bitcoin Volmex Implied Volatility (BVIV) index has also increased by approximately 12%, indicating that the current price action possesses underlying momentum. From a technical perspective, Bitcoin remains within an overarching downtrend but displays strong bullish momentum in its short-term price action. The cryptocurrency has reclaimed its key moving averages and shows signs of structural recovery.
