Trump's Crypto Profits Spark Republican Concerns Over Conflict of Interest
Concerns are growing among Republicans about President Donald Trump's profiteering from his family's business ventures, particularly in cryptocurrency. According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, nearly half of Republicans (48%) believe Trump's businesses have influenced his decisions as president.
The same poll found that only 32% of respondents thought it was appropriate for Trump and his family to make money from cryptocurrency, with just 6% of Democrats and 25% of independent voters agreeing. In contrast, 69% of all respondents and 90% of Democrats believed it was inappropriate.
Trump's family has earned a significant amount from cryptocurrency ventures, with $1.4 billion generated last year alone. The president himself made $2.2 million in 2023, despite claiming he does not run his family's finances.
