Trump's Crypto Windfall Exposed: Nearly $1.2 Billion Earnings Spark Outrage
Controversy has erupted over President Donald Trump's massive cryptocurrency earnings. According to an Office of Government Ethics filing, Trump generated nearly $1.2 billion from his crypto ventures last year. The majority of this came from two companies: World Liberty Financial and CIC Digital LLC. World Liberty Financial brought in over $500 million through the sale of 'governance tokens', while CIC Digital LLC earned more than $600 million from sales of Trump-branded cryptocurrency coins featuring his image.
The value of both tokens and coins has plummeted since their initial sales, with Forbes estimating Trump's net worth at $6 billion, up from $2.3 billion in 2024. Joe Rogan recently spoke out about the earnings on his podcast, stating that 'This government has done some s*** that no government has ever done before... The crypto stuff is nuts.' He also mentioned that Trump's sons are involved in these business deals and there's a lot of money flowing around.
Trump has been criticized for using UFC events to promote his cryptocurrency ventures. Fighters at the recent UFC Freedom 250 event were paid a $250,000 performance fee in USD1, a cryptocurrency issued by World Liberty Financial. California governor Gavin Newsom was among those who called out Trump's self-promotion through Freedom 250.
