Trump's Iran Decision Looms Over Crypto Markets
President Donald Trump is reportedly close to deciding whether to launch a large-scale military strike against Iran, a move that would have significant implications for crypto markets and oil prices. According to Michael Doran, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, the decision is imminent due to a convergence of military readiness, economic leverage, and political calculus.
The US Treasury has already taken action against Iran's digital financial infrastructure, seizing or freezing over $1 billion in Iranian-linked crypto assets. The crown jewel of this campaign was the sanctions on Nobitex, Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange, which processed more than half of all digital asset activity in the country.
Tether has also confirmed cooperation with US authorities, freezing USDT-linked accounts connected to Iranian interests. Markets are already pricing in uncertainty, with Bitcoin and other major digital assets showing pronounced sensitivity to every twist in the US-Iran saga. Oil prices exceeding $100 per barrel add another layer of complexity, feeding inflation which complicates central bank policy and affecting liquidity conditions for risk assets like crypto.
