Trump's Regulatory Push Sends Bitcoin Soaring Above $75k
Bitcoin surged above $75k on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump called for clear regulation of cryptocurrencies, sparking renewed investor interest in the market.
The price spike, which took Bitcoin to an intraday high of $79,600.6, was also fueled by a broader increase in risk appetite following news that the U.S. Treasury Department would double its bond buybacks to curb rising yields.
Ran Hammer, Chief Business Officer of decentralized Layer-3 blockchain infrastructure firm Orbs, attributed the rally to falling yields and Trump's push for the Clarity Act, which aims to establish a regulatory framework for the U.S. crypto industry.
Bitcoin is now set to rise 23% this week, its best weekly performance since February 2024, and has broken out of a trading range between $60,000 and $70,000 seen for most of 2026.
