Tusk Seeks Fresh Vote on Vetoed Crypto Bill Amid Zondacrypto Probe

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is pushing for a fresh vote on a vetoed crypto bill, citing the widening investigation into Zondacrypto and its alleged ties to organized crime. The bill aims to bring Poland in line with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, but has been rejected by President Karol Nawrocki three times since 2025.

Tusk argues that the collapse of Zondacrypto, which left customers with estimated losses of around $94 million, is no longer a one-off incident but an organized system. He claims that familiar names from other controversies are surfacing in connection with the exchange's collapse.

The government has been preparing the 2027 budget, but Tusk believes that further delay would be indefensible given the growing evidence of wrongdoing. He is asking Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty to schedule another vote on the veto, which requires a three-fifths majority to override.
