TXSE Launches Full Trading on All Tickers, Challenging NYSE and Nasdaq
The Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) has launched full trading on all tickers, marking a significant milestone in its development. This achievement comes after years of planning and investment, with TXSE securing SEC approval on September 30, 2025, following a $250 million fundraising effort from over 80 institutional investors.
The exchange's phased rollout began on July 6 with test symbols, followed by live trading on a subset of National Market System (NMS) tickers on July 10. By July 31, all NMS symbols were available for trading.
TXSE operates fully electronically, headquartered in Dallas, and has deliberately avoided incorporating cryptocurrency into its platform, focusing instead on traditional equities. However, the exchange has stated its intention to support exchange-traded products, including ETFs.
The launch of TXSE is seen as a challenge to the dominance of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq, with institutional investors such as BlackRock and Citadel Securities positioning themselves for better execution, tighter spreads, and lower costs. The success of TXSE will be measured by its market share numbers over the coming quarters.
