Tyler Williams Exits Treasury as CLARITY Act Stalls
Tyler Williams, a senior digital asset adviser to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, left his position at the U.S. Treasury Department on July 31 as Congress struggled to advance the CLARITY Act before its August recess.
Williams had been advising Bessent on digital assets and blockchain policy since 2025 and was instrumental in advancing the administration's goal of making America a crypto capital, according to Bessent.
The Treasury has not publicly named a successor, leaving its senior digital asset advisory role unfilled. The CLARITY Act remains unscheduled as Senate floor time centers on government funding legislation instead.
Bessent called Williams 'instrumental' in advancing the administration's goal of making America a crypto capital and said he will be returning to the private sector after his departure from Treasury.
