U.S. Strikes Iranian Targets Amid Escalating Tensions
The United States has launched new strikes against Iranian targets in response to recent attempted attacks on commercial shipping and American service members. According to CENTCOM, the U.S. began striking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets at 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The news follows a previous round of strikes on August 30, which targeted Iranian targets for allegedly placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The current strikes reportedly hit locations near the Hormuz waterway, including Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas.
In response to the U.S. actions, President Trump warned Iran that a 'much larger attack' is 'waiting in the wings', stating that there will be 'very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran' if they retaliate.
The market reaction has been swift and severe, with Brent crude surging to $96.70 per barrel and U.S. equities experiencing significant losses. The Dow Jones shed 401 points, while Bitcoin prices have slid towards $77K, down 2.5% over the past 24 hours.
