U.S. Treasury Launches Quantum Readiness Task Force Amid Growing Threats
The U.S. Treasury Department has launched a quantum readiness task force to address potential threats from super quantum computers and protect America's sensitive data, critical infrastructure, and digital economy.
The task force will focus on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and will work with officials, traditional finance institutions, public and private sector leaders, and tech providers to ensure the financial system remains strong, secure, and competitive.
Cristiano Ventricelli, Vice President of Moody's Ratings' Digital Economy Group, believes that quantum readiness is no longer just a future threat but a present-day risk control. He notes that advances in quantum computing could compromise transaction authorization, asset ownership, and custody arrangements, potentially undermining market confidence.
