UAE Adopts Avalanche Blockchain for National Digital Identity System

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has integrated Avalanche blockchain technology into its national digital identity system, UAE PASS. The integration will support the Digital Vault inside UAE PASS, which serves over 12.5 million people. This partnership between the UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), consultancy firm Deca4, and Ava Labs marks a major government use case for blockchain technology.

The new system, powered by a dedicated Avalanche L1, will allow users to securely store, request, and share verified government documents. This is designed to make document verification easier while reducing the need for manual checks. The UAE's move comes as other governments are also turning to Avalanche for digital services, such as the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) digitizing 42 million vehicle titles through a custom Avalanche L1.

Avalanche native token AVAX jumped over 3% in response to the announcement, trading at around $7.48 with an increased trading volume of roughly 14%. The integration is seen as 'one of the largest real-world, nation-state use cases for public blockchain infrastructure to date' by Avalanche.
