UAE Authorities Question Binance Employees Over Corporate Bank Account
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is facing an uncomfortable stretch in one of its most strategically important markets - the UAE. Between July and August 2026, two Binance employees were detained or questioned by police over a corporate bank account used for customer deposits and withdrawals.
The inquiries center on a fiat-to-crypto functionality launched on June 2, 2026, through ADCB bank, which allows dirham-denominated transactions. One mid-level employee was stopped at Sharjah airport in August 2026 and detained overnight, while a separate executive connected to Binance's Dubai subsidiary was questioned by police in July 2026.
Binance characterized the inquiries as routine, with no formal charges filed against either individual. The company is cooperating with the investigation, but the specific nature of the alleged irregularities has not been disclosed. UAE authorities have not identified which transactions drew their attention or what offense, if any, they suspect.
